WHS Close Up is hosting a Color Run on Saturday, September 18 at 3:39 pm. Students are $10 and adults are $15. The first 100 people will get a free t-shirt. The color run will take place at Cutting Field - 1200 9th Ave W
Close Up is a trip that the senior class can take to Washington, D.C., to learn about how the government works. The money raised from the color run will help fund the trip for students.

We had a great first week of school last week!
We started the day with welcoming students back on the Red Carpet, where students were greeted with high fives from teachers and staff for their first day of school!
Everyone then went to the gym where we held our first Rally! Students were recognized for taking AP or Honors classes last year, taking summer school classes, and working jobs over the summer. We played some games before going into our first day.
After a shortened schedule, sophomores, juniors, and seniors left, and the freshmen had their Freshmen Orientation hosted by the Coyote Crew. Freshmen had a presentation of school rules, took a tour of the school, played games with their freshmen teams, and did team-building activities in the gym.
On Friday, we held our Commitment to Graduation (C2G) ceremony. Freshmen were given a short presentation by a WHS alum and then walked the stage to sign their name on the Class of 2029 C2G banner.

WHS Student Council is bringing storms to Williston, and they could hit YOUR yard! If the storm drops a house or a ruby slipper takeover, you have options! That means there are TWO storms raging through Williston! The storms start raging on Monday, August 4.
You can pay to have the storm taken away! $25 takes the storm away from your yard. $50 takes the storm from your yard, and you get to choose who it hits next!
This year, we also have INSURANCE against the storm. Pay $75 to choose where the storm hits next AND be covered from getting hit again!

Class of 2026, your senior photos are due on December 5, 2025, at 4 pm! Make sure that you are getting your photos taken and submitted as soon as possible so the photo that you want goes into the yearbook and the graduation slideshow!
Senior Photo Guidelines:

This morning, the High School held the annual Step Up Ceremony. Seniors wear their caps and gowns to school and sit in their senior place one last time. The ceremony recognizes seniors' plans for after graduation, such as College, the Military, Workforce, or Trade Schools.
Teachers and Staff of the year, voted on by the students last week in PACK, were awarded. The Teachers of the Year are Mrs. Otis, Mrs. Rooke, and Mr. Cowley. The Support Staff of the year are Mrs. Branham, Mr. Kennedy, and Marife Casarez.
At the end of the Ceremony, the seniors leave the gym to the tune of Pomp and Circumstance. The rest of the grades move to their new spots around the gym, signifying their change into the Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores for the next school year!

The WHS Band is holding their Spring Band Concert tonight, May 6 at 7pm in the WHS Theater. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students.
The concert features music by Randall D. Standridge, one of the most prolific concert band composers today. The band has hosted Mr. Standridge for the past two days in preparation for the concert.
Randall Standridge Music, LLD recently published Dramatic Images, a piece written by Dr. Ed Huckeby that was commissioned by the WHS Band in memory of Duane Anderson. His publishing company has released well over 250 pieces of music over the last two years, including many of his original works.
The Staff vs. Student Volleyball Game hosted by WHS Student Council is this Wednesday, May 7, at 6:30 pm in the Jon Cole Gym! The Senior Muscleball team (and some MVPs from the grades) take on a WHS Staff Volleyball team. Admission is a free will donation, with a recommended donation of $5. All proceeds raised will be used for 2025 Teacher Appreciation Week and 2025 Homecoming Expenses.
