Schools today face many challenges, not the least of which is communication. Ensuring accurate, timely and trustworthy communications with key stakeholders is integral to supporting student success. Because it is so important, Williston Basin School District #7 is administering the SCoPE Surveys, three surveys dedicated to evaluating the effectiveness of our communication with Faculty and Staff, Parents and Families, and the School Districts we serve. Please take a moment to complete this survey by February 16th: https://survey.k12insight.com/r/xocLb1

The Williston Basin School District and the Superintendent expect that all concerns be treated with respect. Parents/guardians are often discouraged when they attempt to communicate with central office administrators and school board members and are sent back to building-based officials in order to resolve a problem their child may be experiencing in school. To prevent that frustration, parents can become informed about the “chain of command,” or where to begin the communication sequence regarding their problem or concern. Many parent and community questions are easily and completely answered by communicating directly with the educator in charge of the class or program. Each situation should first be addressed at whatever level the initial action was taken, with appeals moving on to the next level in the chain of command. The easiest way to communicate at the building level is via ParentSquare, email, or our Comments & Inquires Form; a phone call is the next preferable way. The easiest way to communicate for specific departments is our Comments and Inquiry form; an email or phone call is the next preferable way. Here at Williston Basin School District #7, we ask that you address any issues in the order as laid out in our Chain of Command process below. To review the page on the website please go to the District page – Menu - Chain of command. https://www.willistonschools.org/page/chain-of-command

Dear Wilkinson Families, I want to welcome all of you back to Wilkinson for another exciting school year. It was wonderful to see so many new and returning faces at our open house last week. We will have Family Engagement fun nights and activities throughout the year. Please watch our Facebook page, school newsletters, or information sent home for more details. We also have a wonderful PTO this year that already planned many exciting events for our Wilkinson families. I hope to see you at one of PTO or school events throughout the year or elsewhere in town. If you are interested in being part of our PTO, please reach out to one of the members or contact the school for more information. Please remember that anyone wanting to volunteer in the school district must have a background check. We have information at the school or you can contact district office if you are interested. I’m eager to work, in partnership, with all our Wilkinson families this year. I value open communication and welcome all feedback, suggestions, or concerns. I look forward to a wonderful school year ahead! Sincerely, Jeremy Brenner, Principal Wilkinson Elementary School

Wilkinson Student Dismissal 4th Grade, Siblings, & Daycare Exit Door 11 (Cutting Field Parking Lot) 2nd and 3rd Grade Exit Door 1 or Door 6 (Students with siblings exit Door 11) 1st Grade and Kindergarten Door 2 (Students with siblings exit Door 11) Reminders!! Pull to side of the road when picking up or dropping off students. Turn down loud music. This is a safety issue and staff need to be able to hear. Kindness is contagious on the road!! The first days of school are very stressful for students, staff, and parents. If you cannot find your student immediately at pick-up time, please do not panic. We have staff monitoring all doors and exits and we will do our best to assist as long as everyone remains calm. Please find a staff member to assist you if needed.

Dear Wilkinson Families, Monday, August 22, 2022 will be our back-to-school open house from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Students and their families will have an opportunity to meet their teachers and see their new classrooms. Most students have received messages from their teachers by now. For those that have not, my apologies. Most students should be entered in Power School by now assuming the registration process is complete. You will be able to find out who your child’s teacher is by contacting the school or during open house on Monday evening. PTO will also be available for anyone interested in supporting our school’s students and staff through various activities throughout the year. We will also have information available on the process for obtaining the background check required to volunteer in the school if interested. I’m excited to see all our new and returning Wilkinson students and families and I look forward to an amazing school year. Sincerely, Jeremy Brenner, Principal Wilkinson Elementary School
